Jim Cannon
Principal
Jim Cannon has a combined 20 years experience in the investment
banking industry. His experience includes private equity
transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and investment advisory
services. Jim is experienced in negotiating transactions, managing
and assisting companies with raising equity and debt funds from
private and public capital markets.
Jim founded Commerce Business Group, LLC, a Texas based M&A
advisory firm that specializes in advising small and medium-sized
businesses. Jim is licensed through Crescent Securities Group, a
registered broker dealer and FINRA member firm headquartered in
Dallas, Texas.
Prior to joining MD Cress & Associates, LLC, Jim was a Principal at
Mastodon Ventures, Managing Director of Investment Banking at
RiverStone Wealth Management, and Director of Corporate Finance
at Oxford Financial Group. Jim began his Investment Banking career
at Morgan Stanley and his formal education was at the University of
Texas at Austin.
Jim is active in several civic affairs. He is co-founder and board
member of CapCityKids, a non-profit agency which supports the
education of children experiencing homelessness in Central Texas. He
gives his time to other local charities including Mobile Loaves and
Fishes and Austin Baptist Chapel (Angel House).
